Yes. All scanning, threat analysis, and history storage runs entirely on your device. No internet connection is needed or used. There are no analytics, no telemetry, no ad networks, and no cloud sync.

OnScreen Qr supports all standard QR code formats as well as common 1D barcodes (including EAN-8, EAN-13, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 39, Code 93, Code 128, ITF, Codabar, and others). You can configure the scan mode to Auto-Detect (both QR and barcodes), QR Only, or Barcode for your specific use case.

Every scan result is checked by a built-in safety engine that runs entirely on your device. It looks for phishing links, suspicious websites, and payment scam patterns. You will see a color-coded verdict after every scan:

• green (safe — no issues found)
• amber (caution — take a closer look before proceeding)
• red (dangerous — potential threat detected)

Since this analysis happens on your phone, your scan data is never sent anywhere.

Batch Scan lets you process multiple images containing QR codes or barcodes in a single session. Enable it in Settings, choose a batch size (10, 25, 50, 100, or 200 codes), then select any folder from the home screen. OnScreen Qr scans every image in that folder, detects all embedded codes, and saves every result to your local history automatically. Media access permission is requested only when you activate this feature and can be revoked at any time from Android Settings.

Yes. OnScreen Qr can export your entire scan history into a well-structured Excel (.xlsx) file. You can choose between a categorized export — which organizes results into separate sheets by type (URLs, WiFi, UPI, contacts, etc.) — or a flat non-categorized list. This makes the app ideal for inventory tracking, logistics, asset management, and any workflow that requires structured records.

OnScreen Qr requests only the minimum permissions necessary:

1. Screen Content Access — to detect QR codes and barcodes visible on your screen when you tap scan.
2. Display Over Other Apps — to show the floating scan bubble across all apps.
3. Notifications — to display scan results and the active scanner status.
4. Vibration — for optional haptic feedback when a code is detected (can be toggled off).
5. Media Access — requested only when Batch Scan is enabled, to read images from a selected folder.

No camera, microphone, location, or contacts permissions are ever requested.

Your scan history is stored exclusively in a local, on-device database within the app's private storage. It is never uploaded, synced, or shared with ToolBoxesAi or any third party. You can toggle history recording on or off at any time in Settings, review or copy individual entries, or delete them selectively. Uninstalling the app permanently removes all stored history.

OnScreen Qr includes an Android Quick Settings tile that lets you toggle the floating scanner on or off directly from your notification shade — without opening the app. Swipe down, tap the tile, and the scan bubble appears instantly over whatever you are viewing.

No. OnScreen Qr activates only for a split second when you tap the scan bubble, detects any codes on your screen, and immediately goes back to idle. There is zero continuous background activity — the app never watches, records, or monitors your screen when you are not actively scanning. This makes it exceptionally battery-efficient.

OnScreen Qr supports Android 7.0 (Nougat) and above, which covers the vast majority of Android devices in use today. The 'Display over other apps' permission is needed so the floating scan bubble can appear on top of whatever app you are using.
